"By comparing the data from the drone,we could determine
the flow speed, movement patterns and surface temperature
of
the volcano. These data are important for making assessments
about how damaging a volcano's explosion would be.We've
shown that the use of drones can help completely re-measure e-
ven the most dangerous and active volcanoes on Earth from a safe
distance,continues Edgar Zorn.
The two cameras of the drone could take high-resolution
photos and thermal imaging(热成像).Using a special computer
program, the researchers were able to create complete and de-
tailed 3D models from these images. They obtained a 3D geogra-
phy and temperature model of the volcano with a resolution of
only a few centimeters.
